Trust & safety

A busy street, well lit

What we do, and what we ask of you — set out separately for handmade or new goods and for secondhand finds.

Money held until you say so

Payment sits in the ShopStreet hold until you confirm the item arrived as described. Sellers are paid out the next morning.

Handoffs happen in daylight spots

Meetup points are suggested from a vetted list — market gates, station concourses, staffed cafés. Never a home address.

Glow can go down, not just up

Levels reflect recent behaviour, not lifetime totals. A shop that starts shipping late loses standing within weeks.

Every photo is the actual item

Stock imagery is not allowed, including for handmade goods — show the batch you're selling. Reported listings are reviewed within 24 hours.

Handmade & new

  • ·Say who made it. Reselling mass-produced new stock as handmade loses the shop.
  • ·Made-to-order items must state a production window before checkout, and the hold runs from dispatch.
  • ·Materials and care matter: list what it's made of, and any allergens, wax, dye or finish used.
  • ·Items for children, candles, cosmetics and electricals must meet local safety rules — you're the responsible seller.
  • ·Photos show your actual batch, not a render or a supplier catalogue shot.
  • ·Buyers get 14 days to change their mind on new items, except genuinely bespoke made-to-order work.

Secondhand & vintage

  • ·Describe the wear. Every mark, repair, missing bead or replaced part goes in the description.
  • ·Pick the condition honestly: New, Like New, Gently Used, Well Loved or Vintage. Vintage means 20+ years old.
  • ·Measure it flat and photograph the flaws in daylight — no filters that hide damage.
  • ·Say what's been altered or repaired, and whether the repair was yours or came with the item.
  • ·Branded items must be authentic; if you can't verify it, list it as unbranded or unmarked.
  • ·Restored electricals need a working, safety-tested state and a note on what was replaced.

Buying and selling safely

  1. 1Keep chat, payment and delivery inside ShopStreet — off-platform deals aren't covered.
  2. 2Open a dispute within 48 hours of delivery and the hold stays frozen while we look.
  3. 3For handoffs, check the item before you tap Confirm. Once confirmed, funds release.
  4. 4For made-to-order work, the clock starts when it ships, not when you paid.
  5. 5Block and report from any shop or listing; we don't tell the other person who reported.

Report something

Counterfeits, misleading photos, off-platform payment, an uneasy handoff. We look within 24 hours.

Reports are anonymous to the other person. Prototype — nothing is sent.

Levels and glow points feed into all of this — read the scoring rules.
